Public Awareness
Communication
strategy
In the current year plan the strategy
has been focused on advocacy (especially in
rural areas), local influential, religious
and opinion leaders, policy maker and media
etc. through out the province. IEC campaign
has been relied on the mass media for creating
awareness with focus on increasing visibility
of service delivery points. People have been
aware of family planning, choice through filed
units.
Radio
According to the agreement
made with PBC, twice weekly programs have
been broadcasted from Pakistan Broadcasting
Corporation, Peshawar, D.I.Khan and Peshawar
channel. II. (Pushto, Saraiki and Hazara Hinko)
during the year 2003, 04.
TV
To create awareness about
family planning facilities in the community,
advertisements about UAN (Universal Access
Numbers) (UAN 111-777-444) has been telecasted
from Pakistan Television Corporation through
out the province. Agreement for contract has
been made with PTV to telecast of UAN 02 spots
before National NEWS at 9:00 Pm and 02 spots
after khabar Nama. 2 spots before and after
Pushto and Hinko local news.2 spots in local
dream w.e.f 19-02-2004 to 30-06-2004 (Total
spots 424), 02 spots telecasted from PTV World
during the interview of Minster for Health
& Population Welfare, held in April, 2004.
04 spots telecasted from PTV World on the
eve of Executive Seminar on April, 28 to 30th
2004 at PARD, NWFP Peshawar.

Circuit TN
A contract has been made with the
CCTN for Telecasting of Universal Access Number
111-77-444, 20 spots in a day from Peshawar
AirPort w.e.f. 15-02-2004 to 30-06-2004 (Total
spots 4050).
The addresses of cinema houses have been collected
from the districts for production of slides
for publicity through cinema is under process.
Press Publicity
Press provides coverage through advertisements,
editorials and special articles on National
Occasions i.e 11th July, Opening Ceremony
of Kohat Tunnel, Women Heart Day, 14th August,
2003 and 25th December 2003. Special supplement
on Health & Asia 2004, advertisement on
3rd One day cricket match in Arbab Niaz Cricket
Stadium Peshawar on 18-03-2004, 23rd March,
2004, Advertisement on the eve of inauguration
of Medical Centre at NWFP on 15-05-2004 has
been published in various News Papers to create
awareness in the community about family planning
facilities.
Printed
Materials
All IEC printed materials
such as pamphlets, Leaflets, Brochures and
Posters/Charts Posters, Forms, Family Planning
Client Card Reproductive Health Handbooks
for Doctors has been distributed to the subordinate
units for onward distribution.
As well as Colored posters in 04 colours,
10 designs in Urdu & Pushto of current
population DATA of NWFP, District wise and
Contraceptive Leaflets in 6 designs, family
planning in Islam, Family Welfare Centers
Addresses and Satellite Camps scheduled &
year planner has been printed during 2003-04.
Workshop/Seminars
Seminars, Workshop and Orientations
have been regularly arranged at provincial,
district and tehsil level to advocate importance
of Population & Development, Population
Dynamics in the context of mother child health
for stake-holders, religious scholars and
policy makers. An executive workshop on Emerging
Population challenges and management responses
have also been arranged with the collaboration
of John Hopkins University (USA) during financial
year, 2003-04 which was a big step forward
on the road towards attaining the objectives
of Population Welfare Programme. In order
to enlighten the religious scholars about
the success of family planning programme in
Muslim countries a programme has been ini9tated
by the MoPW to send the religious leaders/scholars
on foreign trips to muster needed support
in this regards.
A.V.VAN
To create awareness the audio-visual
shows have been arranged in rural areas quarterly
in month at all districts according to the
scheduled program
Declamation
Contests at District Level
To create awareness in the
community, all the subordinate units have
been directed to arrange declamation contest
at college debates in schools and colleges
on demographic situation of the country and
reproductive health/family planning. The 11
Districts arranged the declamation contest;
prize awarded who performed best in the shape
of shield and cash prize.
Baby shows also held in the
Districts i.e. Malakand, Kohat, Mardan Hangu,
Bannu, Karak & DI Khan. The DPWO, DI Khan
has been given appreciation letter that hold
13 numbers of Baby Shows which is highest
score among others.
Free
Medical Camps
As a regular feature of the
programme activities free medical camps were
arranged in far-flung areas of Abbottabad,
Haripur and Mansehra for which specialist
doctors, and technicians and other professionals
were collected from Islamabad. During these
free medical camps hundred and thousands of
patients with minor ailments were treated
and beside that free medicine were distributed
to the needy and poor people of the area.
