Introduction
It is an attached department
of the provincial government responsible for
the over all publicity and public relation.
It is through this department that the government
in this province keeps contact with mass media
including newspapers, magazines, radio, TV
and cinema. At least one of its representatives
works with each department/organization of
the province as Public Relations Officer and
provides news to the mass media through this
Directorate.
It is from this Directorate that news regarding
the activities and day-to-day working of all
the government departments, functionaries
including the Governor, Chief Minister and
Cabinet members will be constantly updated
on this site on daily basis. The concerned
PRO to each Department, Minister or functionary
can be any time contacted for any query with
regard to the concerned Department, Minister
or functionary.
Media Center
A state-of-the-art Media Center has been established
in the Directorate. This Media Center provides
facilities for lectures seminars and workshops.
It is mainly utilized for press conferences
by government functionaries and cabinet members.
The following are some of the main functions
of the media center.
1. Liaison between Government and the media.
2. Image building & projection of Government
policies.
3. Monitoring of national and International
media and developing prompt response where
required.
4. Awareness about local/national issues.
5. Arranging of press conferences and seminars.
6. Placement of information/advertisements/news/handouts
on the Internet.
7. Preparation and circulation of important
Government functionaries/ departments.
8. Publication of all important Cabinet decisions.
9. Arrangement of interprovincial goodwill
/ informational / educational tours
10. Addressing any other media/communication
related issues as required.
Press Information Section
This is the section from where coverage of
all government activities is coordinated constantly.
It is from here that one can instantly get
information regarding the schedule of any
Minister or Public Relation Officer (PRO).
